Choral Music

Concert Choir

The Howell Middle School South Concert Choir is a musical ensemble offered to every student at Howell Middle School South.  From the first rehearsal, students will learn to sing with good vocal technique and will work towards our annual winter and spring concerts, learning a variety of quality repertoire in various languages.  Students learn to perform in unison as well as two and three-part harmony.  Students also refine the skills needed to sight-sing (the ability to sing a new piece of music without the aid of a piano or recording), and sight-singing is emphasized from the first rehearsal.

Rehearsals are after school. Students should join the Choir Schoology page with the code W6K4C-BBNRN.

Honors Choir

The Howell Middle School South Honors Choir is a select musical ensemble offered to students in the Howell Middle School South Concert Choir by audition only. The Honors Choir stresses self-sufficiency among its members with a high emphasis placed on sight-singing (the ability to sing a new piece of music without the aid of the piano or a recording). Senior members of the group take turns helping run sectionals. In addition to the annual winter and spring concerts, the Honors Choir performs outside the walls of Howell Middle School South, bringing music to senior centers, assisted living centers, elementary schools, and more. The Honors Choir learns a challenging repertoire in various languages, performing in two, three, and four part harmony.

Rehearsals are after school.
