Injuries / Phys. Ed

Physical Education is a requirement. Students who may need to be excused from participation in physical education due to a medical reason must submit a doctor's note to the school nurse.
**The note should include the reason and length of time to be excused.** Please have the doctor also include the need for elevator, extra time between classes, and use of devices in school, as applicable. (i.e. crutches)

A parent's note for a minor illness may be honored for a 1-2 day period. Such a note is to be brought to the school nurse before homeroom. The nurse will approve the note and issue an excuse for the requested period. The student will bring the note from the nurse to the physical education teacher.

All other exclusions from physical education beyond 2 days require a physician's note.

**Students excused from Physical Education classes will also be excluded from extra-curricular sports activities until which time they are re-admitted to their Physical Education class**
PLEASE NOTE:
For safety and liability, we must have a medical note from a physician (MD; DO; or APN) to clear your child to return to physical education and sports. In many cases, the same doctor to excuse the student will also be the one to clear them to return. Your child will not be cleared to participate in any physical activities until a medical note is received by the nurse.
