Annual Health Screenings

HEALTH SCREENINGS

 

Health screenings are mandated by the New Jersey Department of Education as listed below:

 

HEIGHT, WEIGHT, AND BLOOD PRESSURE: Yearly for all grade levels

 

VISION SCREENING:  6th and 8th grade

 

HEARING SCREENING:  7th grade

 

SCOLIOSIS SCREEENING: 7th grade

 

You may opt out of the scoliosis screening by the school nurse and have it completed by your own physician. Please indicate "no" on the back of the emergency green card sent home in the beginning of the year, if you do not want your child to be screened for scoliosis in school. If you leave this blank, your child will not be screened for scoliosis in school, and you must provide documentation of the exam by your own physician. 

 

In the event you opt out, please provide the scoliosis exam results from your child's physician by May of the current school year.

 

If your child has an abnormal screening, a referral will be sent home.  Please follow up with your health care provider as soon as possible.  If you do not have vision insurance, please contact the health office.
